These games can provide moments of magic or drama or may simply pass without incident or much entertainment....but will still matter to the fans of each club, because if the last year has proved anything, it is that the debate brought about by a performance which is sublime, average or dire is part of why we go to football matches. Football is just a part of the reason we go to competitive football matches. The rest is tribal, social, habitual, contextual and there tends to be two sets of proper fans there under the current format.
