it would mean that pretty much every league club (and definitely us since we don't have billionaire owners) would be bust and and out business within a year.
Wouldn't surprise me if the players in non-ESL teams would go on strike rather than allow them to be kicked out by their leagues. Unpalatable though it is, all the big money in football nowadays comes from TV rights to watch those big ESL clubs, or from rich owners hoping to get their clubs to play at the top table with those clubs. Take them and the money they generate away and most clubs will go bust or have to slash their wage bills by about 80% to match their new reduced income levels. The big losers will therefore be non-elite professional footballers.
