How come this is alright:

Coldplay have admitted to plagiarising for their new album "X&Y". In an interview with Xfm Chris Martin said: "As people listen to the album more and more it'll become apparent just how much we've plagiarised."

"To me, at the end of our album we should have had a bibliography, or a discography, or references."

"The end of "What If" is taken from The Beatles. We were stealing from a lot of people. Much more than people think."

and this:

"young people may be swapping files illegally without their parents' knowledge".

isn't?

The only difference I can see is that Mr La-di-dah Martin is doing it for financial gain.
