(while being typically humourless, slow and irritable) that I should be grateful to be dealing with him because America had the world's friendliest immigration officials! Which suggests that he is one of teh majority of Americans who have never travelled abroad and just automatically believe (because it is what their media always tell them) that every single thing about America is absolutely the best in the world. Reemeber once telling some American relatives that I wouldn't want to live in America and they looked at me as though I should be carted off to a mental institution immediately (possibly true but they had the wrong reason)
