today i learnt that an old derelict "farm building" at the edge of a nearby field

was actually a WW2 bombing decoy bunker that was used to lure german bombing raids away from the fine city and it was bombed on a number of occasions. by day they would wheel out mock-up aircrafts made out of wooden frames covered by cloth and by night they would set a series of lights up to resemble to look of norwich thorpe station from the air. it was bombed at least ten times by the luftwaffe with no records of any civilian casualties. excellent work by our department of sneaky f**kers.
