Michael Bailey did a good Athletic article on this today

Basically saying we're more solid - fewer spectacular comebacks needed, scoring fewer goals than xG would suggest we should have, whereas two years ago we were wildly over it.

Neither of which were conducive to us doing well in the Prem two years ago, and could be a deliberate shift to being more 'boring'.
