obviously yes, I agree

But at this stage, just over half way through a season, when a couple of victories, losses or injuries are round every corner, to say that a few points here or there make very significant differences to the likely outcome in fact, is fanciful. That's why managers don't think one week, half way through the season, that they're almost bound to be promoted, and the next, 2 games later, that they stand much less chance.
