We played them together in the series v Pakistan. We played them together in one of the Windies tests this summer.

Yes we generally alternate them away from home in the subcontinent but I don’t think the policy should be so rigid that you don’t consider occasionally playing them in tandem in what is going to be a pretty crucial test match in the series. You have to manage the load but it’s not like Anderson bowled 50 overs in this test match.

When you are playing India or Aus away then you should consider playing your best side as often as you can. Same in the Ashes.

Thankfully, all of our options available for Saturday look like good options so whichever way we go we will have a decent attack. If it’s Broad and Archer then I’m sure they will both still do a good job.
