...but we're not necessarily the club the majority seem to think we are now, we went and spent ?3m on Dean Ashton and ?500k on numerous players - Worthington has had far more money available to him than most of his predecessors (even at the start of his first full season he was allowed the luxury of two ?500k players in Rivers and Emblem, plus ?200k for Nielsen and ?150k for Chrichton - granted, he'd bought Drury and Holt for nominal fees in his first month but Hamilton had put in all the groundwork for those, Holt almost didn't sign due to the transition of managers).
I seem to remember seeing somewhere that Reading have spent ?1.1m on their squad in the last two years - and have managed to pick the talent from the lower leagues...we've brought in journeymen and workhorses (donkeys?!), which as Ottoson Foxtrot alludes to below, isn't what we want as City fans.
We're not a fickle bunch, we don't expect trophies every year. We don't necessarily demand a win at every home game. What we do want to see is a side of eleven players that are capable more times than not of finding a yellow shirt and the occasional 'showboat' that allows us to talk to fellow football fans safe in the knowledge that, yes, Norwich are a side that likes to play football...
