Staggering tripe from Waghorn in his latest column

Rick says that Norwich can't play pretty passing football because the pitches away from home aren't good enough.

He claims that you can't play passing football on anything other than a billiard table smooth surface, or at least on a pitch as good as Carrow Road.

Riiiiight Rick, if that's the case then how did Liverpool - one of the best passing sides ever seen - manage to win games home and away in the 70s and 80s when pitches often resembled a mud heap.

If that's the case, how come we failed to win a single game away from home all last season, on Premiership pitches - most of which are, for large parts of the season, top quality surfaces.

If that's the case, why have the majority of our performances at home - even in the games we've won -been dire kick and rush football?

If that's the case, then why is it generally the better quality players that are able to control the ball, and matches, on sub standard surfaces, as anyone who has played Sunday football on a dodgy pitch with a couple of real quality players will know.

It really is unbelievable the excuses Rick will come up with to protect his mate Nigel Worthington. Anyone would think he was being paid by the man...
