Indeed. It’s a peculiarly Anglo twitch to think that somehow

doing it via businesses makes it morally better somehow.

Point is, we need to pool our resources and pay people to stay at home if they’re ill. We will all benefit from this happening. We need to do it one most effective and comprehensive way possible. We will all save money if it happens (because the virus levels will fall and we can reopen society).

Other countries understand this. There is a reason. we have had more deaths than *any other country* (scaled by population). Because we keep trying to wish away the virus, rather than properly suppress it.
