Percentage of tests returning positive peaked at the end of last week

Positive tests should improve from here on in, though mortality is going to be grim for the next few weeks, and hospitals are in fire fighting mode.

That's post Xmas and New Year, plus lockdowns working (at whatever cost to people in other ways; let's leave that alone).

But to keep cases down, we stay locked down for some time. All grim.
