This is not a difficult question. I don't think anyone should have the option to "buy" the vaccine in front of those who have already been listed as priority. Supplies are limited at the moment, so why should footballers (or indeed anybody else with financial means) be able to obtain a vaccine ahead of clinically vulnerable people, care home workers, doctors, nurses, paramedics and other front line NHS staff and the over 75's who are more likely to end up in hospital if they get the virus.
I believe one issue that gets lost is that hospital capacity is just not about covid. If anyone needs urgent treatment because of a stroke, heart attack, cancer or injury such as road traffic accident they ought to be able to get it. This is not easy if the beds are filled with Coronavirus patients.
No-one should be allowed to jump the vaccine queue while stocks are limited.
