I have a lot of time for this guy as he makes a lot of astute comments in his regular Saturday column that one can only hope strikes a chord with the Board.

Today his subject is the lack of talent coming through from the Academy system. He admits that the Academy rules have an impact here but he tends to point the finger squarely at the management team who seem to have little faith in what is on offer.

I have suggested before that we are severely hamstrung by the Academy system travelling rules and I have advocated pulling out so we can go back to sourcing youngster from further afield. We could retain a youth system but have more freedom to go looking for the next Bellamy, Eadie or O,Neil.
