... because I could appreciate his comment as it was without taking a very narrow-minded view on it and proclaim that he must be a racist?

I also appreciate now that SCC believes he has made some unsavoury comments in the past relating to people's ethnic background, and like I said, I'll reserve judgement until anything else crops up.
