Know what you mean about broadening my tastes too - I joined a quirky book group about a decade ago and through that have read a really wide range of stuff I'd never have tried otherwise. (New Finnish Grammar by Diego Marani stands out in particular as a great and unexpected hit)

Always happy to make some suggestions if there's genres you fancy trying out (and interested to hear any top tips you come across) Am currently having another delve into contemporary poetry via the latest Bloodaxe anthology (Staying Human) - they're really superb.
