can but hope that will be the worst case

if it spreads through squads like it has spread across the country the fixture backlog will likely be horrendous not just the odd fixture here and there. unless footballers are given a high vaccine priority. not sure anybody sane apart from a few footballers/clubs/lunatics that would support that.
