yeah, a lot john stead as s**t spent with good money but it could have gone either way

Stead kept blackburn up with some good play and potential, and mccarthy bought him on that

He could still have what it takes at the prem level but mccarthy got it wrong buying him

That Elliot being injured didn't help them either

Barring that, they didn't really get any money to spend, so it was a big ask
