Of our current squad I think:
Krul, Max, Gibson, Zimmerman, Skipp, Tettey, Sorenson, Emi, Todd, Pukki
form a decent nucleus of a Prem side.
I'd also say that Onel/Xavi/Rupp/Stiepy are handy squad players.
too early to tell with Hugill/Dowell/Plachetta/idah/Mumba/
And it'd be interesting to see if Soto/Sinani/Famewo/Mccallum kick on after successful loans.
The younger and less experienced players are all much more savvy than they were last year.
Ultimately - to survive in the Prem what you need is a solid core of a team who know how to play together and one or two 'magic' players who add that special something. Money can help with that, but these days is even less of a guarantee.
I think the injuries at CB knocked the wind out of us and along with Covid meant that the players just didn't believe they could fight their way out.
I could see, with one or two additions that 'click' at Prem level, that we could compete there. It'll always be tough, but there's some rotten sides down the bottom.
Nice well thought out opinions in this thread. quite a pleasure to browse down in my morning teabreak to be fair.
