But I've been noticing the difference between cricket and football JOURNALISTS about Trescothick. All that's ever said is that he went home "for personal reasons". They seem to respect whatever difficulties he's having (presumably marriage trouble) and don't want to add stress to his life by writing about the detail.
Imagine if Rooney had flown home from a major international tournament because of "personal reasons". The tabloids would have gone into a total frothing frenzy. They'd have doorstepped him, bugged his house - anything to bring us the lurid details. It was bad enough when Campbell went off, which was just in the domestic league. There's no earthly way they'd have left it at "for personal reasons".
