Still early on the day but I don't find it surprising that players who are still publicly abused (and were so more in the past, and are still extensively online) want to use their public platform to hammer home the point that racism is not 'fixed'.
This is no more 'political' than any kind of equality stuff.
Not sure what you were shooting at with the 'wake up' response - wake up that a proportion of the population is racist? (even if they're pretending they are not and are objecting on the basis of some spurious arguments that wilfully ignore the stated aims of the players).
That's actually the whole point of why they're doing what they're doing.
Am glad that it's being discussed and that people in companies and organisations are making it clear (again) that racism is unacceptable.
