it's all about the global audience though

people here for example will turn on to watch games that involve players from Chile and I assume the same is true of Asians/Africans etc.

And the games don't really have to be *that* interesting anyway. To be profitable they only have to have a tiny proportion of the global TV audience and people will always watch high level football, even if most fans find it relatively dull
