I’ve said this before....

The weakness of our defence isn’t the personnel, it’s the approach we take.

Our two weaknesses are:

1. Set pieces
2. Getting caught out when in possession with CBs split or midfield up the pitch or both.

Tettey doesn’t really help with either of those. If anything, he makes it worse as our defence are under more pressure on the ball when they don’t have someone in front of them that is comfortable receiving the ball, turning and moving it forwards. Tettey nearly always plays it back to a centre back because he’s not comfortable turning when receiving the ball with his back to attackers coming to pressurise him.
