there isn't that much resentment or negativity around the club, theres still the majority that really think we can turn it around and have some wayward belief that the single only reason we aren't playing well is cos we got relegated last year and we haven't gone up cos a lot of other clubs didn't when they went down
It's crap like that I can't bare, cos where does it ever stop
You start a season and it isn't happening, so you are told to have some faith. Ten games in the mode changes to "no one said it was going to be easy"
You sign players and they don't perform and you are suddenly the West Ham model out of no where. You get to December and you are the Palace model cos your position has decreased
You win 5 in a row and suddenly thats it now, we've turned the corner and its all gonna be fine from now on. You then lose the next 6 and suddenly its "but history shows relegated teams struggle"
You sign two class forwards with huge question marks of who's going to give them the service and you scrape a few home games whilst losing shamefully away and it gets to point where after most excuses are exhausted its "it'll all be alright next year"
There isn't much hostility on matchdays, the majority are support of the manager on past recognition, yet none of this majority can raise enough effort to drown out mediocrity but creating an atmosphere "a wall of noise!" to quote worthington
In the mean time, any scrap of goodness here and worthy swipes at the fans, so does foley
You know Worthington has full support when people don't fully react to that, instead its seen as good thing that he cares (even though most games he's just stood with his arms folded looking about as interested in football as Damian Francis)
I think many read that crap and believe it
Also the way waghorn goes writes his piece like hes some sort of font of footballing knowledge. It scares me to think that the majority think he's some sort of apostle in football heaven
