....in a slew of pink'un articles (alongside a piece lauding Hooze again, and the usual Archant description of Etuhu as the 'muscular midfielder' - is that really all there is to him?)
re Hooze and his versatility: ?It is handy from the squad point of view when you are not flushed with numbers, shall we say."
and then re Thorne: ?He hasn't been in the squad recently but that's all part of the game....Like all managers I can only pick 16 players, 11 to start and five to be substitutes.?
I know it's easy to pick holes in quotes. But doesn't this sum up of one of the frustrations with our transfer policy? On the one hand we appear not to have a single right-midfielder - so when McVeigh (who isn't one, really) isn't fit, we have to play Hooze there (who certainly isn't one.)
But on the other hand we have Earnshaw, Leon, Johannson, Thorne and Jarvis who are out-and-out strikers, and then Hucks, McVeigh and Henderson who are all more genuine forwards than wide midfielders, really.
How did we get here?
