in the late 80s the centre became desolate and all businesses moved to hanley, 2 miles down the road and stoke centre and local shops never recovered. the wonderful competition of capitalism really f**ked the place up. i think the specials did a song about it. terry hall may have been talking about coventry or wherever but years later it was still relevant. and even now it still is.
