I think it's because there's just no rush on either side

Neither side is worried about the situation, i.e. Merc know he'll sign, Hamilton knows the offer isn't going anywhere.

It could also be that Hamilton is thinking about length of contract, maybe he won't want to do 3 more years?

I'm not sure on the reasoning for the delay really, but I don't htink there's any realistic prospect of him not signing.
