There was a nice vibe

For the first time in ages - and a sense that there was some real potential among the new faces.

We haven't really kicked on.

It's masked a bit by the fact that international football isn't great. We've got good players, but that Belgian team has great players. They never got out of second gear tonight.

Never needed to.

(to be fair, I don't think there's loads of better players that are being overlooked - but I struggle to see us going very far in a major tournament - though there's always a hefty dose of luck needed, so, who knows?)
