Even if that vaccine is not a perfect solution.

We can;t accept (or rightly are not prepared to accept) the level of excess deaths that letting the virus pass through the community will bring about.

I just worry that we will do our usual thing of waiting 3 weeks before finally deciding we need to lock down again when we would be better to just do it now if it needs to be done. Like we did last time, we were 3 -4 weeksnehind France and yet did everything at more or less the same stage of the outbreak despite the heads up their situation (and that in Italy) gave us.

If they just said we wikl have intermittent 2-3 week lockdowns when needed and extended the furlough scheme to cover those lockdowns I think most people could live with that.
