I don't care which

Government/ political party copped for this situation. They'd be perceived to be making a mess of it by those of the other political leaning.
Simple as that.

It's real f**king easy to sit around scoring petty points and criticising everyone else when you have both the benefit of hindsight, and the luxury that your daily decisions probably don't have that much impact on the wider world.
