They work for droplet transmission, minimally for aerosol

Masks reduce droplet Infection radius. Reduce the likelihood of someone with symptoms infecting others. You could argue that if you have symptoms you should self isolate.

Aerosol infection seems to be massively underestimated. Masks don't really help as they certainly don't filter 80 nanometre viruses.
