Normally, If You Get A Dog After You Get Cats...

...it isn't a problem. Dogs are territorial yes, but, upon arriving in its new "patch", it will realise that the cats were already there, so will not see them as intruders or similar-so they should get along fine, infact, the cats are more likely to be pissed off at the dog, rather than the other way around.

Its when you have a dog and then introduce cats, it can get a bit feisty.
