Depends on how the dog has been trained

any dog of any size can be a pain with cats.
A good way to get round it is to go to something along the lines of the RSPCA, they will have dogs there from homes that may have had cats in etc,but the dogs have been handed over due to neglect or a death in the family.
If a dog is trained properly it can be amicable with the cat,its the cat you want to worry about
