People want the "right to work" because it's the only legitimate way of making money. They also realise that most work is boring and meaningless, so also don't want it to become all consuming (as it has tended towards in the UK & US).

The Chinese and Indians are stealing our jobs because they are being outrageously exploited by western companies or their proxies - even those in relatively well paid jobs (as opposed to the very many more eaking out a living in sweatshops where they are practically company property themselves). Said western companies are also quite prepared to use the threat of moving to the third world in order to extract concessions from their own workforce. And there are plenty of examples of them doing so and then upping sticks anyway.
