You continuously make the same error

Covid illness itself is a very, very small part of the picture. You seem to ignore everything else.
In Sweden for example schools didn't close for 16 year olds and under. Here? ... Well we all know here - the damage to some children (with long lives ahead of them ...) will be profound. In the UK we now have a health service which is directing itself very largely at one illness- I know from my own experience a person who had a routine operation cancelled and then (as a direct result) died at Adenbrookes (300 odd empty beds ...) without his children permitted to see him. There are no doubt countless other examples, let alone the wanton destruction of livelihoods (whole sectors of the economy) and all that goes with that - shattered lives and futures. The costs are huge and as such require a bloody big pay off - a far greater pay off than we'll ever see.

And in any event - I doubt very much it'll suddenly be 'cured', so after a year or so of smashing everything up, we'll probably end up back where we started anyway.
