This team is years away from success, we need to rebuild and gel an entire new defence and midfield. The team at the moment isnt a team they are individuals who hide away when critism comes there way, the only two who showed any passion yesterday was green with his fully justifed gesture to the 'fans' and mckenzie who will always do his best no matter how bad the situation is. As for the defence we will probaly see green leave in the summer with gallagher moving up to first choice and lewis as back up. right back is a massive problem area, no pace no skill and no confidence. fleming is not a right back and maybe next season will be a season to far for him at this club. as for colin and louis jean well what can you say, ive seen louis jean play for the club five times and have not been impressed and colin should never have been signed for nothing let alone 250,000 grand. moving onto the centre of defence doherty has proved himself to be a better player then anyother in defence this season with numerous man of the matches, will be a key member of the team next year and for many years to come. Shackell is still inconsitent, he will make a world class tackle one minute but be beaten to easy the next and for a man of his statue he should not be beaten in the air as much as he is. Whatever happened to rehmann?! Drury, mr dependable some might say, started the season badly but has gradually got better. Charlton played out of position too many times, when played in centre of defence last year looked good, strong but again wasnt dominant enough. Many targets have been mentioned but who are we going to get in?? why would halford leave a club on the up? only if colchester fail with their promotion bid perhaps, but i can not honestly see any player who is a reasonable target who would want to come here. Moving onto midfield, maybe the worst midfield ive seen here in years. Ok we have had injuries this year but theres been times this season where we have played games with not one natural midfielder, this is the key to our downfall and the reason why Mr Worthington let us down in the summer, letting so many midfielders leave the team for free, pathetic! only Francis commanded a fee and a small one at that for a player of his capabilitys. Marney, unlucky to get injured but he is a natural centre midfielder but again he was played out of position on the right of midfield. Hughes the scapegoat, a player who again should not have been bought here as we dont play as a team to his strengths. Safri who never really looks fit and has one good game in about five. Robinson who is starting to look like one bright spark out so many dull dissapointing ones, he likes a tackle and has an eye for a pass. Jarrett who was supposed to be Francis' replacement and after five games looks like he wont be coming back here, WHY WAS HE SIGNED? WAS HE SCOUTED? another bad signing! which leaves us to the attack, which on paper looked the strongest in the league at the start of the season, Huckerby, should not be played left midfield as he will not defend he leaves too much space and exposes drury too much am i the only one who seems to notice this? most of the oppostion attacks come from this side as its usually two on drury. Huckerby is best up front running at defenders or just off a target man, thats why he worked so well with crouch and roberts. Mckenzie a good hardworking player who always gives it his all, hes had a bad year with personal problems but sureley is getting back to his best now. Thorne, past it no pace simply not good enough for this club. Ashton, showed a lot of loyalty to the club! could have at least stayed then maybe we would have stood a chance but when the mighty West Ham come calling no player could refuse! Earnshaw, hmmm worthington likes to play the high ball to him?????????? as we saw yesterday play it into space on the floor or to his feet he will make things happen and grab you goals. The forgotten men also, Etuhu half a million for a benchwarmer overvalued in my opinion. Ryan Jarvis never really got a chance to impress, the odd subs appearance but not much more. Henderson hasnt got the mental strength to deal with the crowd and he isnt helped by constantly being played out of position. Mcveigh an enigma, where do you play him? A lot depends on this summer and what effects it will have on the club. How much money will be spent, who much do we have? Who leaves? Who comes in? If i would have a choice this would be the team for next year, Martin Allen as manager, as i think he is the kind of person we need at this club to shake things up and get the players motivated again. Robert Green in goal Greg Halford at right back Gary Doherty at centre half Sodje of brentford centre half adam drury left back ivan sproule of hibs on the right carl robinson in the centre with glenn whelen of sheffield wednesday and chris brunt of sheffield wednesday on the left up front i would play mckenzie and earnshaw. On the bench would be huckerby to destroy defences in the second half, safri, shackell, johannson and mcveigh. Players to leave would be hughes, etuhu, jarrett, colin, louis jean, ward, charlton, ryan jarvis, ian henderson, fleming and any other deadwood we are paying for not playing. The keys for next season is luck and consistency, we need to blood a new team with a new focus and new leadership. A team with youth and experience who will grow stronger and have a positive outlook and approach in matches. Whether it will happen is another matter.....
