ANdy Hughes - Is he really that bad??

we paid 550,000 for Andy Hughes and at the moment he looks an average player.
Leicester paid 500,000 for Gareth Williams and he looked a good player - he passes the ball intelligently forward.

I struggle to see how that side was doing so badly with him and Joey Gudjohnson in midfield. Mark De Vries and Elvis Hammond probably answer that question!! Hume and Fryatt anyone??
