solely because it is recommended by experts in one particular field. Epidemiologists can advise on the likely spread of the disease; but they are not economic experts, or experts in human rights, or experts in human psychology.
Their advice needs to be considered along with that of experts in all kinds of other areas. And then the government needs to take responsibility for formulating a policy based on all the different advice it has received. And it should explain clearly to the public why it has taken that position.
