Is the remaining few games enough time to repair the damage by what, in my opinion, has been preceded by 18 months of comparative under acheivement?
I sincerely hope you are right about the plan for the summer. But, under the assumption that he doesn't prove me wrong, you then have to ask what is gained by retaining the manager for that period? Obviously there is a monetary issue that would probably benefit from his dismissal being put back, but what effect does this have on the subsequent manager's position? He has less time to assess his playing squad and enforce his mantra on that squad, and also less time to survey the market for suitable replacements/additions to the squad that will undoubtedly be necessary.
Also, personally, I feel dismayed that the board have failed to ease the concerns that a number (be that a minority or majority) of fans have over Nigel's tenure at the club. I have begun to lose faith in the board's ability to make a decision that is obviously a difficult one, but in my opinion appears to be the correct move. Damage is being done the relationship of the fans with the club that may take a length of time to heal.
This isn't a disagreement with you, but the route that the board may be taking...
