Jobs has oriented the Mac much more around the home/casual user

Hence "lifestyle" apps like iTunes, iPhoto, etc. And the ubiquitous iPod is an Apple product of course. So much so, in fact, you'll find a lot of graphic pros up in arms about the shift in emphasis.

That said there's less difference between Windows and MacOS than there used to be, so stick with Windows if it suits you. Personally I have to fight Windows strangeness at work all day, so don't mind in the least coming home to the OS X breath of fresh air.

One thing, though, and it's the same Mac or Windows: make sure you have backups of your important data - I brought an external FireWire drive just before my HD failed (I can boot from it too - don't know if you can do that with Windows). A lifesaver - imagine having to downlo ..., er, rerip 30GB of music!
