to be fair, you and duck do have a point

the club thought we couldn't afford to buy the better champ players (until Jan at least), so we gambled on a collection on youngsters, veterans and an untested foreigner (plus Doherty as a late panic buy - now for that money we *could* have got a decent championship player).

The frustrating thing was that Worthy never really gave the gambles a chance of coming off - either he played them out of position, or he didn't play them at all, until it was too late.
