But someone will argue that's market forces. Bollax I say - you could find someone else who'd play in his place for ?40k and be just as effective, bidding the wages down - his talent is not so scarce. Tell me, what is Keiron Dyer's strengths? He runs fast. That's it. That's not worth ?80k a week in my book. Running fast with sublime skill? Now that's worth ?80k - i.e. Thierry Henry, someone who I could happily watch every week as he could produce something special. Dyer might produce something special once every two seasons. Newcastle are being taken to the cleaners by Dyer, and numerous others.
David Sullivan came out and basically slammed his entire first team at Birmingham for being a bunch of overpaid yellow bellies. And they are. They're professionals - playing at home, they should never lose 7-0. Even if you lack quality, you should be organised and hard to beat at that level.
Hopefully things might start changing soon. Players who play in the Champions League get the big money, and everyone else is paid far less.
