If it’s quite a standard one, I think the electrics will be on the left, with the cable

coming out of the bottom of the electrics box. If that is the case then I think the flow will be from the bottom inlet to the top outlet.
If your pump looks upside down then the electrics box will be on the right with the cable coming out of the top. In that case the input will be at the top and the output at the bottom.
Now obvs I am completely unqualified to give any advise on this but I fitted my cheap replacement one no problem.
You shouldn’t need any ptfe tape, just make sure the threads are clean and inline.
