The timing of the firing is interesting.

Just before large bonuses are paid out.

I'm guessing if he was a more valued employee they wouldn't give a s**t about a few sandwiches.
Clearly they wanted him gone and found an opportunity.
Reminds me of this story of a flight attendant who was fired....
