Snitch

We all make mistakes and I'm sure this was one. No judgement from me on the rider as a person. We all have to take responsibility for whatever harm we cause. Short term he'll be gutted but long term it might change how he rides and end up saving his life. Plus if he's done damage he needs to put that right as best he can.
