But even in that 'disastrous' January transfer window, we also signed Godfrey and Maddison, and pumped more money into the youth system. So the plan was to buy pretty safe assets to safeguard the future of the club.
Which is imo a more ambitious and higher reward strategy than not spending much at all, just buying a handful of older journeymen, who are neither good enough to improve the team, nor have significant potential for resale.
