And by being ever present across all forms he's almost not given people the chance to miss him. Fascinating that there's not been quite the clamour to bring him back that you get with stokes/bairstow.
The key bit has been that he often took critical wickets in the first innings. His bowling average for the two years pre the ashes were great.
He's not swann, but very few are. And his batting at 8 can be brutal.
Frankly he's a very important part of our team and the lack of vocal support for him when he tried to help (batting all numbers from 2-9) can't have been easy.
Hopefully the management will learn from this.
His captaining at Worcestershire displays a lot of nous. We lose an awful lot when he's not in the team, but as he's not a traditional player he seems to get the flack and not enough recognition for his all round contributions.
