just means he's negotiating with us for an amount. When players get their contract 'bought out' it doesn't mean they get the full amount. After all they'll get paid at their new club and (usually) get a signing on bonus. To satisfy both sides the amount normally only needs to be roughly the difference between what they would have been getting here and what they expect to get at the new club. Why would we want to pay him a whole year's full wages and get absolutely nothing for it. No player could negotiate that!!
