As discussed before when you have a margin of error as they do you cannot be

disallowing goals for offsides that are 0.01 of a mm or whatever it was. They also cannot accurately capture the moment the ball leaves the passers foot.

I do agree, however, that the solution (aside from just not using VAR) lies primarily in changing the offside rule here to make it fit to work alongside VAR.

Interestingly there was an article in October which suggested they are looking to implement technology which permanently tracks the back foot pf every player on the pitch to produce a constant offside line which VAR can have access to. That would presumably require a change in the rules though as its often not the back foot that is the relevant reference point for offside.
