we should have gone into massive debt or sell some of our current players to buy new ones.....

Going into massive debt is not an option.
It would be crazy and doesn't even guarantee survival, ask Fulham.
It would put us in the same situation as other recently relegated clubs.
Ask Stoke fans how that is working out even with rich owners.
